This Privacy Policy describes how FinGrow Finance (Pty) Ltd. (”FinGrow”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), collects, uses, and shares information collected through websites and applications owned and operated by FinGrow, as well as information about your privacy and about privacy laws that protect your information.

By using FinGrow, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Please read this Privacy Policy to understand how we manage your information. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use FinGrow.

1. Information FinGrow Collects from You

We aim to collect only the information that we need. The information you provide depends on how you use FinGrow.

When you sign up to join the FinGrow beta, through our website or other channels, we collect the following information:

  1. Email Address. Your email address is required when signing up to use FinGrow.
  2. Name. Your name is optional when signing up to use FinGrow.

When you use FinGrow’s applications (available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS), we may collect the following information:

  1. Expense and Payment Information. When using FinGrow’s expense tracking feature, we collect information about the expense, including but not limited to: the expense title, amount, currency, category of expense (defined in 1.6), date, whether the expense is recurring, the frequency of recurrence, the account used (defined in 1.7), and notes.
  2. Income Information. When using FinGrow’s income tracking feature, we collect information about the income transaction, including but not limited to: the income title, amount, currency, category of income transaction (defined in 1.6), date, whether the income is recurring, the frequency of recurrence, the account used (defined in 1.7), and notes.
  3. Budget Information. When using FinGrow’s budget creation and management feature, we collect information about the budget, including but not limited to: the budget title, date, amount assigned to each income and/or expense category within the budget (defined in 1.6), total budgeted savings amount, and notes.
  4. Transaction Category Information. When using FinGrow for the first time, you can choose to create income and expense categories. Throughout your use of FinGrow’s expense tracking, income tracking, and budgeting features, you can create these categories. Information collected includes but is not limited to: category title, category colour, and category icon.
  5. Account Information. When creating and adding an account to FinGrow, we collect information about the account, including but not limited to: account name, and account icon.
  6. Debt / Liability Information. When using FinGrow’s Debt Forecast feature, we may collect information about debts you owe or your liabilities, including but not limited to: debt name, debt colour, debt icon, total amount of outstanding debt, total repayment period of outstanding debt, and the interest rate.
  7. Notification Permission. When using FinGrow for the first time, you can choose to allow FinGrow to send you remote notifications. If you agree, the following information is collected: your Firebase installation ID. Firebase Cloud Messaging uses Firebase installation IDs to determine which devices to deliver messages to. Non-identifiable information automatically collected when you use FinGrow's applications:

  1. Usage Information. We collect information to better understand how you use FinGrow, including but not limited to: features you use, the amount of time you spend within FinGrow, and the number of times you open FinGrow.
  2. Approximate Geolocation. We collect information about your device location, in accordance with your device settings.
  3. Device Information. We collect technical information associated with the devices used to access the FinGrow application, including but not limited to: your operating system, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and other information such as your device type.

Non-identifiable information automatically collected when you visit FinGrow’s website using cookies and related technologies:

  1. Usage Information. We collect information to better understand the use of FinGrow’s website, including but not limited to: the pages you visit, and how long you visit them.
  2. Approximate Geolocation. We may collect information about your device location, in accordance with your device settings, when you visit FinGrow’s website.
  3. Browser and Device Information. We collect technical information associated with the devices used to access the FinGrow website, including but not limited to: your operating system, browser used, unique device identifiers, and other information such as your device type.

You are not required to provide information that is not automatically collected; however, if you choose not to, you will not be able to use FinGrow.

2. How FinGrow Uses Your Information

FinGrow uses your information in a variety of ways to provide and support the functionality of FinGrow’s applications. We may also use your information for other purposes with your consent.

When you sign up for the FinGrow beta, through our website, applications or other channels, information mentioned in 1.1-1.2 and 1.13-1.15 is used for, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Once you have submitted the sign-up form:
    1. For beta: Your email address, and optionally your name, is stored securely on a third-party web server.
  2. Your name and email address are extracted and added to a third-party marketing communications platform. Used only for direct or indirect marketing communications from FinGrow to you via email.
  3. If you signed up for the FinGrow beta: Extracted and added to a software distribution channel. Used only for the purpose of inviting you to download the FinGrow application.
  4. Non-identifiable information that is collected is used by a third-party website analytics and monitoring tool, and is used to provide information regarding the performance of FinGrow’s website, which we use to improve the FinGrow website.

When you use FinGrow’s applications (available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS), information mentioned in 1.3-1.9 is used for, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Provide and Support Functionality of FinGrow’s Applications. To provide the functionality offered by FinGrow’s applications, we must collect data such as, but not limited to: income information, expense information, budget information, income and expense category information, currencies you use, accounts you create and use within FinGrow, debt / liability information, and whether you agree to receive remote notifications from FinGrow applications.

Beyond the usage mentioned above, we may aggregate and de-identify information that FinGrow collects and uses, in 1.1-1.2, 1.10-1.15, and 2.1-2.4, so that the information can no longer be linked to you or your device. We may use aggregated and de-identified information for any purpose, such as research and marketing purposes, and we may share this information with third parties.

All information FinGrow collects and uses, in 1.3-1.9 and 2.5, is never used for any purpose other than to provide and support the functionality of FinGrow’s applications. For more information, read 4. How FinGrow Protects Your Information.

FinGrow retains your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, as described in this Privacy Policy, or until you delete the information from FinGrow’s applications, or for as long as is required by law. If changes are scheduled to FinGrow’s data retention policy, they will be communicated via email.

FinGrow does not use information that can be directly linked to you for any purpose other than to provide and support the functionality of FinGrow’s applications. For more information, read 4. How FinGrow Protects Your Information.

3. How FinGrow Shares Your Information

All sensitive information FinGrow collects and uses, in 1.3-1.9 and 2.5, is never shared with any third party. In fact, information collected from and used within FinGrow’s applications is stored securely in iCloud, or directly on your device. This means that not even FinGrow or anyone else besides you can access, create, edit, update, or share your information.

FinGrow may share information, in 1.1-1.2 and 1.10-1.15, with third-party tools for, but not limited to, the following purposes:

  1. Marketing Communication and Customer Support. FinGrow uses third-party tools for marketing communication and customer support via email. We use your email address and name on these platforms. You have the choice to opt out of receiving marketing communication from FinGrow, and be removed from the FinGrow mailing list at any time.
  2. Partners. FinGrow may partner with and share information with third parties to provide services and additional offers. FinGrow requires its partners to protect your information following this Privacy Policy.
  3. Others. FinGrow may share your information with anyone, with your consent. FinGrow may share your information if we feel that for the purposes of national security, law enforcement, and other issues of public importance, that disclosure is necessary or appropriate. FinGrow may share your information where there is a lawful basis for doing so.

FinGrow does not sell your information or data to anyone.

4. How FinGrow Protects Your Information

FinGrow protects your privacy and safeguards your information to the best of our ability; however, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage system is completely secure. We are critically mindful when choosing third-party tools to support FinGrow’s operations and the functionality of our applications to ensure that your privacy and information remain as private and secure as possible.

All your sensitive information is securely stored in iCloud if you use FinGrow’s applications on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac that is signed into an iCloud account. If not, your sensitive information is stored locally on your device. All sensitive information collected by and used within FinGrow’s applications is never transferred, shared, or distributed by any means to any property or server owned by FinGrow or any third party.

5. Children and Privacy

FinGrow is intended for a general audience and is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or use personal information from children under the age of 13.

If we become aware that we have collected information from children under the age of 13, we will urgently take steps to delete such information.

If you believe we have information from children under the age of 13, please contact us as described at the end of this Privacy Policy.

6. Changes to FinGrow’s Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update and modify this Privacy Policy at any time to reflect changes in the law, changes in our data collection and usage practices, and the features of FinGrow’s applications.

The revised Privacy Policy will be accessible through our website, applications, and other channels if required.

If significant changes are made to our Privacy Policy, we will communicate them with you via email or other channels, and provide you with notice in accordance with legal requirements.

Your usage of FinGrow’s website and applications following changes to this Privacy Policy and after the notice period, is subject to the terms of the revised Privacy Policy.
